The Paul Mathez name traces its heritage to the Fabrique d’Horlogerie Paul-Virgile Mathez SA, founded in Tramelan, Switzerland, and officially registered on 14 May 1934.

The company remained active for decades, producing finely made mechanical wristwatches under its own name and associated sub-brands. It was eventually deregistered in 2012 (“en liquidation/radiée”), marking the end of a long-standing independent Swiss maker.
