This is a mechanical alarm watch with an interesting heritage. A Schild is recognised as one of the fine mass produced movement makers of the 50s, 60s and 70s alongside ETA. This case one featuring one of their most complicated movements, the AS 5008. The AS5008 is a mechanical alarm like no other featuring an autowind mechanism that winds the watch mainspring in one direction, and the alarm spring in the other. The movement was so revolutionary it was used in countless high end watches including Ulysse Nardin, Girard Perregaux and more recently the Oris Artelier range. Oris reputedly bought up the remaining stocks of the AS5008 and now sell the Artlier.
